Transparent sensor array

June 24, 2020

John Madden’s lab recently developed and published a new sensor technology. The sensor is a transparent and flexible touch sensor that uses readily available and low cost polymer materials and is able to detect a light touch and even the proximity of a finger. The sensor is flexible and stretchable and operates during active deformations such as a bend or a stretch. Potential applications include flexible and rollable hand-held electronics that require a touch screen interface, sensors embedded in sportswear, soft robotic skin, and large area touch sensors (e.g., on windows or doors).
